They commented on the amazing spring like day that allowed the feeling of fun and letting loose from winter's grip. They said that some went out that evening with less than normal March coats because the weather was deceiving. They also indicated that because of the War, Canadian radio stations were off the air and didn't provide the normal warnings. There's much to learn about our history. It's one of the main reasons I do what I do - it's a small niche of history, but to those of us from this region, it matters.Trishymousehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10448388630980259659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17544460.post-77492932671164693752010-12-16T17:42:29.539-06:002010-12-16T17:42:29.539-06:00My aunt and uncle, John and Denna Lennox, perished...My aunt and uncle, John and Denna Lennox, perished in that blizzard, leaving a young son, Ray. I've been trying to learn more about it. Even though you posted this some time ago, I was glad to find it via a Google search.Karen (Dix) Wojahnnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17544460.post-83167613551187439702009-09-12T13:19:20.253-05:002009-09-12T13:19:20.253-05:00My mom still talks about that storm. Mom and grandma were quite worried when he did not come home when the storm started, however he was very busy trying to rescue stranded drivers. Eventually he did make it back into Neche before the roads were totally blocked. Over 150 people in ND and MN died in that blizzard.Paulhttp://meiselphotography.comnoreply@blogger.com
