Long time readers of this blog will know the
Gamble family well. Have you wondered what they looked like? Well, wonder no longer.
NOTE: A key to who's who, is at the bottom of this post...
1) December 1890 - Ellen, Jane, Alice, William, and Samuel Gamble
2) "This is and awful bad taken photo will send you a better one of myself later. That is me with the Badge on Coat" - James Gamble
3) Alex Gamble, 1878
4) Sam, Grandma, Winnie, Grandpa, and Willie
1. Not sure how the order of the names corresponds to the photo, but Willie was older than Samuel. Ellen was the oldest of the girls pictured here, followed by Jane and then Alice. (Not pictured: Alex Jr and Elizabeth, the two oldest Gamble children.)
ReplyDelete2. Not sure of who James Gamble is -- possibly a son of Alex Jr?
3. This is the first photo I have ever seen of my great-great grandfather -- absolutely thrilling!
4. Sam = Samuel Gamble, Alexander & Mary Ann's youngest son. Grandma = Mary Ann Neill Gamble. Winnie = Mary Ann & Alexander's granddaughter, daughter of Ellen Gamble & Richard Lapp. Grandpa = Alexander Gamble. Willie = William Gamble, Alexander & Mary Ann's middle son (& my great-grandfather). Probably taken in the late 1890s or very early 1900s (Mary Ann died in 1903).
